At the Firing Line Shooting range in Clovis, empty shelves say it all.
"Inventory, as you can imagine, is almost non existent. There is a severe shortage of firearms, there is a severe shortage of ammunition right now," said manager Jacob Belemjian.
Talk of increased gun regulations has helped boost gun sales across the valley and Bill Mayfield of Gilmay Guns believes it will continue.
"They are great for business, he and Clinton have been two of the best gun salesman I’ve ever seen," said Mayfield.
Jacob Belemjian of The Firing Line is concerned by many of President Obama's proposals but says right now he doesn't see any immediate downside.
"For us in California, these things that they are proposing are things that we already deal with, this is already the law of the land in California," said Belemjian.
For Mike Reynolds, Wednesday's announcement was personal. Twenty years ago Reynold's lost his daughter to gun violence and went on to author California's three strikes law.
"No pun intended but I think he may have missed the target," said Reynold’s.
Reynold’s had hoped more of a focus would be placed on increasing the penalty for using guns in violent crime.
"Really if you are trying to cut down on gun violence and especially the kinds of episodes we are seeing, you need to identify who is doing it and why," said Reynold’s.
