A new housing development for homeless people is now open in Fresno.

The 69-unit Renaissance Santa Clara is located in Fresno's Chinatown in downtown Fresno.

Along with housing, it also provides access to job training.

Some have been waiting for years to get into a permament place.

Fresno Mayor Ashley Swearengin said, "This is an incredible project. We've got housing for 69 additional people who are today on the streets, and it's a great accomplishment, but we know we have so much farther to go."

Four million dollars was provided by the Fresno Housing Authority for the new development.
