Fresno Police say three armed suspects targeted a home on Cambridge and Blackstone on Tuesday morning. A husband, wife and three children live there.
"[Suspects] had bolt cutters to cut the front gate open. They kicked in the side door. They were equipped with two way radios, zip ties, and they all had guns," said Captain Dennis Bridges of the Fresno Police Department.
The mother was hit and kicked. All the victims were told to get on the ground. During the robbery the husband ran outside to call 9-1-1. When police got there the three suspects tried to get away, one in car and two on foot. Officers chased and caught them. One suspect was shot seven times after apparently pointing his weapon at the officer.
"The suspect was armed with a semi automatic large caliber handgun, had committed a violent residential robbery, was wearing a ballistic vest, and our officer, confronted with those issues, fired shots because he was in fear for his life," said Bridges.
One neighbor had just gone back inside her home after walking her dog.
"All of a sudden I heard pop pop pop, about eight gun shots and then I thought, that can't be gun shots," said Peryna Washington who lives in the neighborhood.
Detectives comb the area, trying to see if this home invasion could be tied to others. Neibors fear for their safety. Police tape blocks access on Cambridge for most of the day, inconveniencing some Fresno City College students who use the street.
The three suspects are Octavio Angulo, 32 years old, Andres Bon, 25 years old, and Juan Diaz, 31 years old. Angulo is in stable condition at the hospital. He and Bon are believed to be Bulldog gang members.
