Hmong New Year celebrations are continuing at the Fresno Fairgrounds.

Thousands went through the gates over the weekend, dressed in traditional clothing, to celebrate the Hmong New Year.

They were also checking out the Mr. Hmong competition. The Central Valley winner is given a big responsibility in 2013.

Mr. Hmong winner, Xai Vang said, "What you do is represent the community, basically the youth. What I will have to do is be a role model now from now on, so I can't do some of the things I used to do, but it's okay, I'm willing to do that to serve the community."

Hmong New Year events run through Tuesday at the Fresno Fairgrounds.
