An ammonia leak at Golden State Vintners at Central Avenue and Chateau Fresno forced evacuations around 5:30 a.m. Thursday morning.

There were around 50 employees at the facility and all were evacuated but three people were taken to the hospital for exposure to the ammonia.

Rescue crews implemented a 1-mile evacuation area around the plant but the area is mostly agricultural so is not causing too many problems.

CBS47 was on the scene and waiting for a briefing from the Fire Battalion Chief.

Central Avenue remains closed between Polk and Chateau Fresno.
