There is a new public service announcement from Fresno police called "Will you help me stay out of a gang?"

The goal is to keep local teens out of gangs and stop the cycle of violence that comes with it.

Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer says extra officers on gang crackdowns aren't enough to stop the problem. "It's not enough to simply disrupt and dismantle gangs in our community. We have to do more in terms of intervention."

There were almost 30 gang-related murders in the City of Fresno last year.
