Imagine dealing with this heat without air conditioning or even cold water. What could be your nightmare became reality at an apartment complex in Central Fresno Wednesday.
A wiring problem knocked out power to Susan Buck’s unit, and 6 of her neighbors around 3pm…in peak heat.
“We're not even getting air. We have an extension cord running from the laundry room just to plug the refrigerator because they just bought groceries,” Buck said.
But the family stuck around because they’re mourning the loss of a loved one.
The outage made it worse.
“It's depressing you know...all that's going on,” Linda Bracamonge said.
“I had the car running with the air conditioning because it was too hot for the kids,” Candice Ruiz said.
They plan to sweat it out at home, because they can’t afford a motel.
“The owner left and went to go get parts and phoned somebody here to tell us that maybe...maybe tomorrow we can have PG&E back,” Buck said.
