A former Clovis East High School teacher, accused of having sex with a student, was in court Thursday morning.

28-year-old Lindsey Trimble was arrested last week.

Trimble resigned from Clovis East and Reyburn Intermediate where she taught science.

So far, the woman has not been charged with any crimes and was in court for a bond hearing.

Trimble's attorney says he thinks she may never be charged because the male student she allegedly had sex with is now a legal adult.

Attorney Jeff Hammerschmidt said, "The young man is now 18 and turned 18 within a very short time of the alleged acts."

The teen was 17-years-old when the alleged incident took place.

Trimble is due back in court next month.
