We're on your side with new information on the national flu outbreak.

What can we expect here in California?

The Centers for Disease Control says 47 states are now reporting widespread flu activity.

That's up from 41 last week.

California health officials say the state is seeing more cases of the flu, but the state usually has a surge of flu activity around this time.

We spoke with a doctor at Fresno's Kaiser Permanente about the the flu cases.

"What we're seeing is you can watch the flu rolling out across the country. And so the latest map there were like four states that weren't in sort of flu emergency status. You can anticipate that's going to change," Dr. Dee Lacy said.

If you haven't gotten your flu shot, there's still time.

The vaccine is recommended for those six months and older.
