The Fresno Rescue Mission is serving a Thanksgiving feast to about 800 people on Tuesday.

Janet Steinhauer with the Fresno Rescue Mission said they do the large meal on Tuesday because there are many local organizations, including the mission, that serve a Thanksgiving meal on Thursday. By serving a large crowd on Tuesday, it allows many of their volunteers and staff to spend Thanksgiving with family. "We're open 365 days a year, 24-hours a day... so the need is all year long," said Steinhauer.

Thank you to the people of the Central Valley who contributed turkeys and side dishes during the CBS47 Collection Drive held last Wednesday.

During the day, CBS47 viewers contributed $3,000, 80 turkeys, food, clothing, toys and more at the CBS47 Studios.

Because of your generosity, hundreds of less fortunate people will enjoy this Thanksgiving.

Food Services Manager Dewayne Martin with the Mission said, "It's always an exciting day for us when we get to be part of that event. It's nice the way 47 gets together with us and partners with us and helps us pull this thing off. We're very grateful."

CBS47 wishes you and your family a very Happy Thanksgiving!
