Residents in Orange Cove have been told not to drink tap water because of high levels of nitrates.

The water is dangerous to everyone, but especial to children and pregnant women.

The water is apparently still not safe even after its boiled, so officials are telling everyone not to drink from the tap at all until further notice.

Sylvester Perez with the Orange Cove Water Department said, "The Department of Health has been notified so they're aware of it so now we're taking steps to notify the public. Right now we've started up our reverse osmosis unit and we're processing water and gradually the nitrates will be removed out of the distribution system."

The city will have a water truck near Railroad and 9th Friday morning and also provide bottled water, too.

The problem could take up to two more days to fix.
