A gang member opened fire on another member of the same gang, killing him and wounding a man and an 8-year-old girl.

It happened around 7:00 p.m. in the area of Tulare Street and Wessmith Way Wednesday night in Madera.

Police say the shooting is the result of an argument between two gang members. The victim and suspect are members of the same gang.

The fight started at Enterprise Secondary School, on the juvenile justice campus, where both the victim and suspect go to school.

Some time later, the suspect walked up to the victim outside a home on Wessmith near Tulare and fired at least five shots. One round hit a truck and shattered the back window, another hit a house, and the other three shots hit the victim, an 8-year-old girl and a man.

The young girl was treated at the hospital and will be okay. The man who was wounded will also survive.

No names have been released.

Police are looking for the suspect. Anyone with information on the crime is asked to contact the Madera Police Department.
