A suspected gang member is in jail accused of gunning down and killing his wife -- and his 9-year-old son heard it all. “My mom was just trying to tell my dad that like stop doing bad stuff to her and then my dad went in there and shot her like 5 times,” the boy said.
The 9-year-old says his dad shot and killed his mom while he and his 5-year-old brother were playing. Police on the scene flew into action to protect the kids.
“When the suspect turned around, the officers yelled for the kids to run and the kids ran out,” Lt. Mike Doyle said.
The boy says his dad shot his mom with her own gun. “[She had it] for security but my dad got it and shot her,” he said.
Police say 34-year-old Daniel Galvan turned himself in 10 minutes after killing 41-year-old Ann Marie Galvan…his wife of 12 years.
Police say Galvan is a Bulldog gang member and served time for domestic violence.
Galvan’s family says the suspect has a history of drug and violence problems.
Beneva Stuckey has lived next door for years. She didn’t like what she heard. “Never expected that to happen; it's a shock,” she said.
Stuckey is a victim of domestic violence herself. Her ex-husband shot her in the eye, paralyzing the right side of her face.
Her son witnessed it 24 years ago. He says his dad’s mistakes moved him to be good to his family. And he encouraged Galvan to do the same. “He was looking forward to getting a job, doing the right thing, getting back together,” said Kirk Stuckey.
The couple recently moved back in together at Galvan’s mom’s house in Southeast Fresno… hoping to repair his damaged relationship with his wife.
“My advice is if he hits you one time, you better run for your life, because he's going to kill you,” Stuckey said.
The 9-year old boy never expected things to go so far. “I thought he was just going to yell like he always does but I didn't know he was going to kill her,” the boy said.
