People use the term 'dizziness' to refer to any number of sensations. You may feel that the world is spinning around you, or that you're on a rocking boat. In any case, dizziness is not a disease but a symptom of another condition. In order to reduce it, you first must determine the actual cause. Since your body's sense of balance is controlled by the inner ear, an examination by an ear, nose and throat specialist is a good first start. Among the other possible causes of dizziness are central nervous system disorders, visual problems, metabolic conditions or drug side effects. You may have a tendency to wait and see if the dizziness goes away by itself, but there's a danger that delaying treatment may allow the underlying condition to get worse. The safest course is to see a doctor immediately.
