"When the Giants made the World Series in 2010, on a spur of the moment I got tickets and a flight and just flew out for the weekend and went to Game 5 of the World Series."
He was living in New York City at the time. So that should tell you exactly how much Jared Eben roots for the Giants.
He's 25 years old, and from Fresno; he graduated from Clovis East High School and he now works at the Clovis North Educational Center.
"Always check the box score, always check the Giants Twitter feed, their Facebook page," said Eben. "Catch the highlights on ESPN or go on MLB.com. I'm always pretty updated."
Which is quite an accomplishment considering Eben's day job is being an accompanist.
He plays piano for the choir department, in addition to rehearsing and doing his own musical composition.
Which the entire country has now seen.
'It's baseball talk with Jared!'
That's part of Jared Eben's submission to be part of this year's MLB Fan Cave, where the prize is a free trip to New York City to watch all 2,430 games this season while meeting players and celebrities. Thousands of people applied, 50 were picked as finalists.
Eben is one of them.
"I thought I was the most entertaining because I wanted to combine my music skills with my passion for baseball," he said. "My friend and I did it in 3 days."
Of the 50 finalists, Jared Eben is the only one from the Central Valley. But he's not the only Giants fan, and unfortunately he didn't make the top 30.
That would have earned him a trip to spring training.
"As soon as I saw the email, it didn't look like it had any plane ticket information in there so I assumed right away that I didn't get it and it was very very disappointing," said Eben. "A lot of people that made it into the top 30 now didn't make it last year.
"So it'll be great to try again."
