Those reports of Stefphon Jefferson leaving school early to enter the upcoming draft?
They're true.
CBS47 talked to Jefferson on the phone Sunday and the ex-El Diamante High star said he hasn't officially declared yet, but he plans to call the NFL office on Monday.
Jefferson was the nation's second-leading rusher this season, who set Nevada program records for carries, rushing yards and rushing touchdowns.
He said coach Chris Ault's decision to retire did not factor into his decision.
As CBS47 reported Saturday night, Jefferson has already agreed to be represented by the sports agency Kelli Master Management, which has since tweeted its excitement that he's on board with them.
Also, KMM released this statement on behalf of Jefferson Sunday afternoon:
“I have decided to take my career to the next level and forgo my senior year to enter the NFL Draft. I do want to thank Nevada and all the staff and coaches for everything. I could not have done it without the opportunities Nevada provided to me to be successful. I will always bleed silver and blue. I know that God has plans greater than football. But for the most part, thank you."
