Three days before Christmas and the start of the NBA's shortened season, Greg Smith is on waivers.
The Houston Rockets released him on Thursday.
Smith, a former standout at Edison High School who left Fresno State with two years of eligibility remaining, was trying to make the roster after going undrafted. He played in both of the Rockets' preseason games, scoring three points in 13 minutes.
"Rockets just released me and i thought i would feel bad but i kinda feel like it was a blessed opportunity and thanks for all the support," said Smith on Twitter (@Juiceman4).
He followed that up with a second tweet:
"life goes on and i will continue to get better and god will lead me to my destiny so i am very blessed."
If no NBA team claims Greg Smith off waivers, he'll likely end up in the D-League.
