Ricky Manning graduated from Edison High in 1998 as one of the most decorated athletes to ever come out of the school's rich athletic tradition.
Now, Manning wants to return to Edison as the head football coach.
Manning, number nine in this old school video, played quarterback and defensive back for the Tigers in the late 90's.
He graduated in 1999, went on to play his college ball at UCLA, and spent six years in the NFL with two super bowl appearances.
Now, Manning is making it no secret that he wants to be Edison's next head football coach.
We heard about this rumor Sunday.
He hasn't been interviewed for the job yet, but Manning says he does have the endorsement of former Tigers head coach Tim McDonald.
Ricky talked to us about it Thursday afternoon.
GEORGE TAKATA: so right now you're campaigning?
RICKY MANNING: yeah, i'm campaigning - i'm in full campaign mode - the thing about it is, i'm a part of edison no matted what - I think it would be fitting for me to become the head coach, I think it's a perfect time - i'm on god assignment man, that's to give back to this community and be fishes to these young men - the reason why I retired is to come back and give back to these kids - and that instantly gives me access to the kids from where i'm from, the west side.
