Washington Union star wide receiver Deontay Greenberry is our 2011 On Your Sidelines Player of the Year.

He's also a second team All-American.

Sports Illustrated gave him that honor Tuesday.

Greenberry caught an eye-popping 109 balls for 2,165 yards and 33 touchdowns.

The yardage and touchdown numbers are new single-season state records.

Greenberry gave a verbal commitment to Notre Dame, but visited USC right after winning the division three state title over Campolindo.

He's also one of five finalists for Mr. California's football award.

The winner will be announced in about two weeks.

We caught up with Greenberry at Tuesday night's Holiday Invitational Basketball Tournament at Hoover High, saying he's still completely committed to the Fighting Irish.

GEORGE TAKATA: after that visit are you still pretty much committed to notre dame?

DEONTAY GREENBERRY: yeah, i'm going to sign there (notre dame) - i'm 100 percent committed to notre dame - it's strictly business - I take this very seriously - this is my job - it's not over yet, I still have the semper fi game coming up so i'm just going to get after it.

GEORGE TAKATA: you've got all these accolades but you won our on your sidelines player of the year award - how does that make you feel?

DEONTAY GREENBERRY: that's a big honor - sorry I wasn't there to accept it but you guys understand - so thank you.

Buhach Colony defensive tackle Aziz Shittu was named a first team All-American by Sports Illustrated.

Shittu had 89 tackles and six sacks for the Thunder this season.

He's being recruited by almost every PAC-12 school, as well as Florida, Auburn, Michigan and Boise State among others.

And, a source tells CBS 47 sports former Bulldog Greg Smith is very close to making the Houston Rockets opening night roster.

Smith had three points and a rebound in the Rockets preseason win over the Spurs Saturday.

They'll play each other again in their final preseason game Wednesday.

Smith went undrafted and played in Mexico during the lockout.
