The first person Pat Hill went after to wear that red helmet was David Carr.
In December of 1996, he became coach Hill's first recruit.
And, he went on to be the number-one pick in the 2002 NFL draft.
Carr is still in the NFL today as a backup quarterback for the New York Giants.
CBS 47 talked to him this afternoon about his relationship with Hill, which has only gotten better now that younger brother Derek is the Bulldogs' quarterback.
DAVID CARR: "He always told me that when Derek was done, he was gonna be done. He was gonna retire. But this situation might change that. Not only is he a friend of mine, he's gonna be someone that's gonna be tough to replace as far as scheme and whatnot. People critique his defensive scheme, offensive scheme. Those were never really his deal. He was the figurehead, he led the guys out. He relied on some great assistant coaches that he's had in the past. Just speaking frankly we're not Ohio State, we can't go out and spent $40 million on a head coach. So it's gonna be interesting to see who they bring in. I think when that town is behind a football team, there's not a better place to play in college football."
