As coach Tim DeRuyter correctly stated to a room full of reporters Monday morning, it's that time of year for his name and the names of his assistants to be associated with open coaching jobs around the country.

The latest? The University of Colorado.

The Bulldogs beat the Buffaloes by 55 points in September; they've since fired their head coach. Ex-Bulldog Jeff Tedford's name has been thrown around as a legitimate candidate.

And Monday night on the Denver Post's website, Tedford's name and Tim DeRuyter's name were mentioned in the same article:

"No front-runner has yet been identified. Two coaches known to be interested are Tim DeRuyter, who improved Fresno State from 4-9 to 10-3..."

(Ironically, a respected publication like the Denver Post got the Bulldogs' record wrong; they're 9-3!)

Continuing:

"...and a share of the Mountain West title in his first year as a head coach, and Bob Stitt, who is 90-57 in 12 years at Colorado Mines."

The article later points out that DeRuyter has a relationship with Colorado's athletic director, Mike Bohn, when the two were both at Air Force together in the 80s.

"All those rumor things are nice, it's all a reflection of what our guys did," said DeRuyter earlier in the day on Monday. "I can't stop those rumors, hopefully our Red Wave and our players will take pride that people are talking about them and that thing because of what they did. So other than that, I don't have any other comment."

'Have you been contacted by any schools?' asked a radio reporter.

"No," said DeRuyter.

A source close to DeRuyter confirmed to CBS47 on Monday night he has not had any contact with Colorado.
