Fresno State plays at Idaho this Saturday, having not lost to the Vandals since 1967.
However, the Bulldogs came close to losing last year and head coach Robb Akey remembers that.
Fresno State gave up 17 fourth quarter points to the Vandals, who had the lead with two minutes left. Then, with 14 seconds left, AJ Ellis scored the game-winning touchdown to give the Bulldogs a 23-20 win.
This season both teams are in a similar situation: they're each 1-2 with that win coming over North Dakota. Also, they each lost to a top-ten team: Fresno State lost at 10th-ranked Nebraska; Idaho lost at 9th-ranked Texas A&M.
"This is for the conference title," said Akey. "Those first three games don't have anything to do with the conference race, none of that. We have an opportunity to get ourselves several of the goals that you set: win your first conference game, win your first home conference game. Those apply to this weekend."
