This week's CBS47 Cool School was chosen for their incredible music program.
Reyburn Intermediate's campus symphonic band is so good, they've actually competed against high school bands.
Many school districts are dropping or cutting back their music programs because of budget shortages but not at Reyburn.
Reyburn Principal Darin Tockey said, "We're extremely proud of the band, proud of their talent. It's nice to be in a district that supports music and the band program.
This band was so good last year, they competed against high school students -- and won!
Music Teacher Matthew Smith said, "We took the winter percussion group up to union city and we competed in the high school "A" class, and we beat two high schools head-to-head, and then we beat several more in individual captions."
Student Kevin Kingkhan said, "It was surprising we actually beat two strong high schools."
Amazingly, this Reyburn band has never been rated less than superior, which is quite an accomplishment for these young musicians. "It's the students. They work really, really hard and I have very high expectations for the students when they come in and I push them really, really hard," said Matthew Smith.
So congratulations to the very talented young musicians from Reyburn Intermediate.
