More and more newspapers around the country are going online, and local high schoolers are taking notice.

CBS47's Mike Scott visited Fresno Christian, where students have their own online newspaper.

Fresno Christian has been getting a lot of national recognition for their online paper, known as "The Feather".

The students who put the paper together not only write all of the articles, they take pictures, they post videos, they blog, they podcast, and their efforts are paying off.

This newspaper is one of the top 5 student newspapers in the entire country.

Greg Stobbe, Fresno Christian Publications Advisor said, "Well, The Feather online now, cause we've now moved away from print, is a daily high school newspaper. The kids are trying to be the teen voice for their community. Whatever teenagers are interested in, our kids want to be there, whether it's covering a theater piece, movies, restaurant reviews. I mean I've got kids who just want to go eat and talk about it."

Student and Editor-in-Chief Tynin Fries said, "Basically, my job is to oversee everything that goes on in The Feather. And so I edit articles, I write articles, I take pictures, I put slide shows together, I make videos sometimes. I'm just the overall person that anybody can come to for help."

Student and Senior Editor Maddie Yee said, "It's kinda fun, because you know, because sometimes when we have brief articles about something that's gonna happen, we know of the details already. So, when upcoming events are coming, like our formal, we know the theme and so we write about that before the whole student body knows, and so we're definitely in tune to what's going on."

Student and Comic Strip Editor Katie Barisic said, "I have just over 600 comics so far, and I've sent off my portfolio and application to Cal Arts last week. My dream is actually to be a Disney Pixar animator, that's like my life dream."

Student and Sports Editor Chris Grossman said, I've seen it first-hand from people that have graduated. My sister was actually the editor-in-chief here, and now she's an editor at a college newspaper. -- I'd really like to work for ESPN. That's always been a dream of mine, just to be an anchor for ESPN."

Congratulations to all those hard-working students who put the online paper together every day. Click the related link to check out their work.
