This week's CBS47 Cool School involves several different campuses: Clovis High, Clovis East, Clovis North and Clovis West.
All the design students visited the site of the proposed Fresno Aquarium west of Highway 99.
They're being asked to use their architectural skills to figure out what the Aquarium might look like.
John Smith, their architectural mentor said, "Part of doing any sort of architectural design is getting to know the land you're gonna build on, and so you've got to go out and analyze the topography and the orientation and everything that's around the site."
Fresno Aquarium Director Tom Lang said, "The kids are just great and their imaginations are running wild and we can't wait til the Spring to see the finished project. There's four different high schools competing."
The sign for the proposed aquarium has been posted on the land for several years and there are some who think it will not be built. "We own the property. We've had 12 major exhibits donated to us by the Steinhart Aquarium in San Francisco. They obviously believe in the project. We continue to raise funds and do one step at a time," said Lang.
The students will present trier design ideas in the spring.
