CBS47's Mike Scott visited Aynesworth Elementary School in Southeast Fresno, this week's Cool School.

Aynesworth was chosen because of an entry we received saying the principal deserved special recognition for the great job she does.

Ermalinda Sanchez has been principal at Aynesworth Elementary in the Fresno Unified School District for the past 8 years.

Aynesworth Elementary School is in what some people consider a bad part of town, Church and Chestnut in Southeast Fresno. But the campus is clean, no graffiti and there are banners hanging everywhere with messages of what is expected of the students. "I want the signs to be a teaching tool and a reminder that if you have dedication, if you have effort, pride, those are going to be some of the tools that will help you get to where you want to be as far as academic success," said Principal Sanchez.

Vice Principal Cha Vang said, "We have very high expectations and we do consider where they come from, but while they’re here, what we find is - what we expect is what we do get.”

Congratulations Aynesworth Elementary and keep up the great work!
