Donna Anderson, Dianna Hanson’s mother, remarked that Dianna’s love of cats of all shapes and forms began from the moment she knew what a cat was. On Dianna’s seventh birthday, Donna adopted a Siberian tiger in Dianna’s name and money helped fund the research of tigers and maintenance of their natural habitat.
“Because of the stories that came through with that adoption process, she grew to understand that these beautiful cats in the wild are decreasing in numbers, and she wanted to do something to help that not happen,” Donna said.
Dianna’s family has asked that supporters donate to the charities that Dianna loved in honor of their daughter. The fund will benefit six charities that influenced Dianna throughout her life: Project Survival’s Cat Haven, Soysambu Conservancy, AKRE Tiger Sanctuary, Snow Leopard Trust, Tembo Trading Company and Seattle PAWS Animal Shelter.
“We know that first and foremost, Dianna would want the work that Cat Haven is doing to continue,” Donna said.
Donations will support PSCH’s cheetah conservation efforts in Kenya and honor Dianna’s work in this region.
The family has asked that all donations be made to the charity of the donor’s choosing. Donations can be made directly on the non-profit organizations’ respective websites.
