Valley veterans and several state lawmakers are launching a statewide "Call to action" to help open Fresno's new veterans home.
The home, which is located near California and Marks in Southwest Fresno, was slated to open in 2013. But under Governor Jerry Brown's latest budget proposal that was unveiled last week, the opening date could get pushed back another year to 2014.
Veterans advocates are now encouraging people to write letters to Governor Brown and the legislative leadership to come up with the money to open the facility.
