A family dispute between two brothers turned deadly in Hanford.

Police say 26-year-old Samuel Ayala shot and killed his 19-year-old brother, Adam.

The shooting happened around 10:30 a.m. Thursday morning at a home at Maxwell and Avenue 9 1/4, near Grangeville Blvd.

Adam Ayala was hit in the neck and rushed to the hospital, where he later died.

Samuel Ayala ran from the scene and hid in a nearby backyard.

Police located the suspect a short time later and took him into custody.

Investigators are trying to determine what led to the shooting.

Police say the suspect was released from jail just two weeks ago.
