Justin Wilson will always be remembered for his gutsy performance in the 2008 College World Series, where he won two games in Omaha for Fresno State including the final game of the championship series against Georgia.

Wilson, a former Buchanan High pitcher, is in his fourth season in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization.  He has a 6-4 record in 2012 with a 3.57 ERA and 89 strikeouts in 85 2/3 innings pitched.

The Triple-A All-Star game is July 11th in Buffalo, New York and Wilson won't be there.  Three of his Indianapolis Indians teammates were picked for the game, but not him.

This is despite the fact that Wilson was the International League's Pitcher of the Week on two separate occasions this season, has given up a total of five runs in his last four outings (24 innings) and contributed 7 1/3 innings of a combined no-hitter a few months ago.

''It was great," he told the Indianapolis Star.  "It's something that I'll never forget.  Of course I wish I could have finished it myself, but it was pretty awesome."

Because he wasn't selected for the IL squad, Wilson won't get the "awesome" feeling of pitching in an all-star game.  However, he is on the Pirates 40-man roster so maybe he'll soon get rewarded with a major league call-up instead.
