Fresno State has lost its mascot.

Victor E. Bulldog passed away from cancer on Friday afternoon.  He had been the Bulldogs' mascot since 2006 after winning a competition for the job.

"We picked Victor as a winner.  The very first thing that we did was as soon as we had him, we went to football practice," said Paul Ladwig, Fresno State Senior Associate Athletics Director.  "And we took him down to the football field and he ran onto the middle of the football field and ran up to Pat Hill.  And Pat loved on him and that was the start of Victor E.

"That was his first official thing."

Victor E. Bulldog was eight years old.
