When Fresno State plays at Nevada this Saturday, the Bulldogs will face a team that has its share of valley guys. The most notable is RB Stefphon Jefferson, an El Diamante grad who happens to be the nation's leading rusher (149.0 yards per game).
But the Wolf Pack also has:
LB DeAndre Boughton (Edison HS/Fresno City College)
WR Kendall Brock (Clovis West HS)
LB Jeremiah Green (Tulare Union HS/College of the Sequoias)
OL Jacob Henry (Lemoore HS)
DE Tyler Houk (Exeter HS/College of the Sequoias)
OL Kyle Papendorf (Buchanan HS)
RB Xavier Stephens (Tulare Union HS)
DL Rykeem Yates (Edison HS)
"I love guys that represent the valley," said Fresno State quarterback Derek Carr. "I can't like those guys this week. But anybody that represents the valley, especially Bakersfield, I'm their biggest fan. I think it's really important when people recruit here. It says a lot about the talent in this area."
"It just adds to the spice of the rivalry," adds head coach Tim DeRuyter. "What we have to do is take care of our business so that these guys will want to become Bulldogs and not become part of the Wolf Pack."
